Pray for Captives----click here

Please pray for the release of the remaining 21 captives who are being held by the Taliban. The captives are Christians who went to Afghanistan to help the people. So far, a pastor and a 29-year-old man have been murdered.
The body of pastor Bae Hyung-kyu arrived back in South Korea on Monday, where the families of the remaining hostages pleaded for their loved ones’ release.

Digging Wells (Need Refreshing?)

I was just reading Genesis 26 today about Isaac having to dig wells that the Philistines had stopped up:

Verse 15---For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

It goes on to say that each time Isaac would try to open new wells, someone would come along and claim the water and there would be a fight. Finally, Isaac was able to dig a well that no one fought him for.

A few years ago, God revealed some things about this to our intercessory prayer team and they began to pray that God would open up the wells of living water that the enemy had stopped up. Just think of all of the ways Satan has stopped up wells of life in people's lives....wells that were meant to flow with the living water. Our prayer team fought for those wells, prayed fervently and finally, as breakthrough was coming, the enemy threw a big fit and kept stopping them up, even using the most unexpected people and things to keep those wells stopped up.

I realize that Isaac strove for those wells, but he had to move on several times to other places to keep digging. The Bible says, "he strove." Striving is extremely exhausting, utterly tiring, and back-breaking. We watched our intercessors go through this as we met with them and prayed and discussed what was happening. The striving became wearisome and it seemed there were too many things coming against the flow of living water. For awhile, we all experienced the feeling of defeat, betrayal, and pure exhaustion, but I just praise God and stand in awe of what He has done!! When we came under pressure that almost destroyed some, it seemed there was no one that understood or cared. There was even judgment from those close to us, but look what the Lord has done!! He has moved all of us to a new place where living water is flowing and we are experiencing a break from the striving. We just spent an evening sitting in our living room in Maui, surrounded by dear friends whom God has brought through the toughest losses, and the Lord visited us with an immense joy, a sweet peace and renewed hope. God is good.

I write this for those of you who may be ready to quit or just lay down and die. You are not alone and God will lift you up and take you to new places where you will be refreshed. If you have lost hope, I speak to your heart now, that God would infuse you with a supernatural hope that will overflow and bring you to wonderful places of refreshing and renewal. Keep your heart focused on Jesus Christ. Ask for the Holy Spirit....a greater anointing. Pray for open eyes that will recognize Him and ask for a renewed mind. Ask God to give you discernment so that you will recognize His voice. He WILL answer. NEVER GIVE UP!!

What I Like About Jesus

I was tagged by http://www.purposedrivenwife.blogspot.com to write five things I "dig" about Jesus. Here are a few that top the list:

#1 His love. The love of Jesus surpasses our understanding. It is an amazing, beautiful thing. If anyone knew that love hurts, it was Jesus.

#2 His forgiveness. This goes along with His love, I guess. When people mocked Him, spit on Him, called Him names and drew His blood, He said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

#3 His simplicity. He loved the children and said that we should be as they are. Children simply believe that God is who He says He is and that He can do what He says He will do. Adults tend to question Him.

#4 His boldness. He was not afraid to rebuke those who were wrong, yet He loved them. He rebuked Peter, the very one that He used mightily. At one time, he called the religious leaders a "brood of vipers." He drove out the moneychangers.

#5 Hmmm. Everything I think of seems to fall under the love category. That is pretty incredible. Thank you, Jesus, for who You are and for loving us.

Dramatic Banana Account

I just wanted to share a bit of the tropical experience with everyone. Today, I got to cut my first batch of bananas from our tree! I have to say that I almost felt native when I cut into the thick branch-thingy (see, I really know my terminology) and the juices starting running out of the tree. I was about to stand up and beat my chest like Tarzan. The 'earthiness' of it all really became reality when a gecko ran past my feet and a giant cockroach jumped out of the tree. After 6 months of island living, I have finally become accustomed to 'critters', as we in Texas would call them, that lurk about around every corner. The kids have named every gecko in the house. George is the one that lives in the kitchen sink and Fred is usually around the bathrooms. If you thought Texas roaches were the biggest ever, you were wrong! The Hawaiian roaches are very large and they seem to live in almost every household on the island. I no longer jump or scream at the sight of them. I think I am officially desensitized.

I think I had better go count my bananas and pray about where to deposit the firstfruits. Hmmmm???
